We had Presidents weekend, so we had Monday and Tuesday off. We also had a snow day on Wednesday, so the week started on Thursday.
Thursday we had the med term test, ticket to sim orientation to heat illness, and rotations for SIM. The Med term exam we really well, and I learned a lot of what it takes to put on an exam like this. We had a heat review about how to treat heat cramps, and it was really cool to learn about something that has happened to me. We had a surprise SIM heat problem, and it took a minute to figure out. It was fun to figure out how to treat the patient that was down.
On Friday we had SIM lab, it was really interesting having a live patient especially because we decided to carry her (which was not a smart decision). I learned a lot of information on how to treat an actual patient, and it was great way to start doing SIM.
On Monday we had Ticket to SIM where we learned about Asthma. So many of my friends have it, so it was fun to tell them about what they have. We had a meeting with the returners, and talked about the Therapeutic Communications Lab for next week. Finally we practiced taping ankles, and a few of the tests. I still somewhat get confused on the tests, so I'm working at home trying to remember what it is, and what each test does.
On Tuesday we had a doctor come in (Dr. Sher) that was a radiologist to talk about his job. I learned a lot more this time around because I wasn't frequently leaving for SIM. We also worked on Med Terms activity, and reviewed what we needed to know to teach the lesson. After that we went back into the lab, and worked on some more of the special tests and taping ankles.
We had a snow day on Wednesday, what a surprise!
On Thursday Aliana, Olivia, and I taught med terms. I was very anxious to remember everything, but I thought it went okay. I thought the BINGO idea of the game was a new alternative that hadn't been done, and it went pretty well.
On Friday we had SIM, and worked on a few other things. All and all it was a great 6 days of school for two weeks.
