This semester has been a great experience for me. After coming from Foundations of Medicine, I was wanting to know more and more about medicine. I thought my Sports Medicine trainer at school was pretty cool, so I thought that having this class would help me see if I wanted to go into any sports professions. I loved learning about the bones and muscles of the lower extremities. For some reason, I’ve alway loved learning the anatomy of the body and what attaches to what.

Shadowing the trainer was one the the best experiences of this semester. It really helped with the patient to patient care. My favorite experience was working the wresting regionals. I did it for two days, and it was so interesting to see how the trainer and the team physician treats the patient. After working with the trainer for many hours, she started to let me tape and do some of the skills we’ve learned in class. I loved the hands on experience throughout shadowing her.

Another thing that stood out was the knowledge I’ve learned. Especially the professional aspects of business and such. The CAPS program has helped me explore new professions that I hadn’t even thought of until then.

Something that challenged me was learning all the tests and what goes with what. I really had to hone in on the name of the test and what it was testing because I often got confused with everything. Eventually it started coming to me, but the first few weeks of learning the ankle and knee tests was hard for me.

The CAPStone speaker help me narrow down the possible professions that would be best suited for me. After the countless physical therapy speakers, I have noticed I do not have passion in that field. The project helped me with ways to communicate with a professional, and taught me numerous amounts of skills.

Finally the website CAPStone project has expanded my knowledge in concussions and professional communication skills. Without contacting my two mentors, I would not have the professional outlook that they have on it. Both of them gave me great ideas to add to my presentation, and it has helped me discover what interests me.

All and all, this class was an amazing experience, and I wouldn’t trade it for the world.
